Marin Hidaka was born on December 1, 2003, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
Her official name is written 日髙麻鈴.
The 髙 in 日髙 is the less common “hashigo-daka” character.
Articles, databases and search engines frequently render her surname as 日高, but 日髙 is the form used by Hidaka herself and by sources that preserve the official typography.
Hidaka's interest in entertainment began in childhood.
Her current official profile explains that an early experience as a model led her to become interested in singing, dancing and entertainment.

Historical height references placed her at 152 centimeters in 2019, but that measurement should be treated as a dated agency-era statistic rather than an automatically current figure.
An early stage credit listed in both her official biography and historical entertainment profiles is the role of Audrey No. 3 in Little Shop of Horrors.
The surviving current sources confirm the credit but do not provide a reliable performance year.
It should not be confused with the unrelated 2020–2021 Japanese professional revival of Little Shop of Horrors, whose published cast did not include Hidaka.
Her major public breakthrough came through Sakura Gakuin.
On May 6, 2015, Hidaka was introduced at Sakura Gakuin 2015 Nendo ~Transfer Ceremony~ at Ebisu The Garden Hall.
She entered as a sixth-grade elementary-school student.
The 2015 transfer class was unusually large, doubling the group from six continuing members to twelve.
The six transfer students were: Mirena Kurosawa, Momoko Okazaki, Maaya Asou, Marin Hidaka, Kano Fujihira, and Soyoka Yoshida.
Hidaka therefore entered alongside two members who would remain especially important in her later story.
Maaya Asou would graduate beside her in 2019.
Momoko Okazaki would share the third-generation Mini-Pati lineup with her.
During her transfer introduction, Hidaka's English ability immediately became part of her public Sakura Gakuin identity.
The 2015 school-year group was led by Student Council President Rinon Isono, with Saki Ooga serving as Education Chairperson and Saki Shirai as Talk Chairperson.
As a new sixth grader, Hidaka did not hold a council office.
Sakura Gakuin was a “limited-to-the-growth-period” group organized around a fictional school.
Membership ended when a performer completed junior high school.
Members participated in the main group, public classes and, when assigned, school-themed extracurricular club units.
For Hidaka, the most important regular club assignment was the Cooking Club: Mini-Pati.
On August 2, 2015, during the TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL period, Sakura Gakuin revealed the third-generation Mini-Pati lineup: Aiko Yamaide, Momoko Okazaki, and Marin Hidaka.
They inherited the unit after the March 2015 graduation of second-generation members Yui Mizuno, Moa Kikuchi and Hana Taguchi.
Mini-Pati was presented as an apprentice-pâtissier unit, combining food-themed songs, colorful costumes and tightly stylized choreography.
The third generation performed material inherited from the earlier lineups as well as its own recorded song.
Its defining original recording was: “Dabada♪ Salad de Sebon☆Avenue.”
The track appeared on Sakura Gakuin 2016 Nendo ~Yakusoku~, released on March 3, 2017.
The lineup also participated in Mini-Pati promotional projects and collaborative café menus.
Hidaka's own 2016 café item was a Sakura Gakuin-themed pancake dish inspired by one of her favorite foods.
The unit's activities were more than a one-event costume assignment.
Yamaide, Okazaki and Hidaka appeared together at Sakura Gakuin events, commercial collaborations and the unit's final 2017 school-year performances.
Mini-Pati effectively ended for this lineup when Yamaide and Okazaki graduated from Sakura Gakuin on March 24, 2018.
Hidaka remained in Sakura Gakuin for another year but was not transferred into a replacement Cooking Club lineup.
Her first Sakura Gakuin album was Sakura Gakuin 2015 Nendo ~Kirameki no Kakera~, released in March 2016.
It documented the twelve-member year in which Hidaka and the other five transfer students were integrated into the group's performance system.
The year required the new members to learn Sakura Gakuin's large inherited song catalog, synchronized choreography, event speaking and school-themed stage conventions.
Hidaka's strengths became increasingly identifiable: a clear and high-reaching singing voice, English pronunciation, expressive facial acting, and an instinct for unexpected comic or dramatic choices.
These qualities were visible during the May 2016 Transfer Ceremony.

She also participated in Sakura Gakuin's annual Uta no Kōkogaku — “Archaeology of Song” — public class tradition.

At the close of that school year, Sara Kurashima and Mirena Kurosawa graduated.
For 2017, Aiko Yamaide became Student Council President.
Megumi Okada served as Talk Chairperson, Momoko Okazaki as Ganbare!! Chairperson and Maaya Asou as Education Chairperson.
Hidaka did not yet hold a formal council position.
Her stage individuality nevertheless became even more prominent.
During Sakura Gakuin Festival 2017, the group presented one-night shuffle versions of former and current club units.
Hidaka, Maaya Asou and Kano Fujihira performed “Gimme Chocolate!!” as a one-night BABYMETAL tribute lineup.
This was a Sakura Gakuin festival shuffle performance.
It did not make Hidaka a member of BABYMETAL and should not be listed as a permanent group affiliation.
The 2017 Sakurademy Actress Award ended in a near tie between Hidaka and Yuzumi Shintani.
Shintani was selected as the winner.
Hidaka then improvised her way into the winner's encore skit, a characteristically rule-bending moment that helped define her comic stage persona.
Her Sakura Gakuin persona frequently included supernatural, psychic or magical jokes.
Telepathy, time stopping and time-leap ideas appeared as comic motifs rather than claims about her private beliefs.

The graduation of Aiko Yamaide, Megumi Okada and Momoko Okazaki on March 24, 2018 ended Hidaka's regular Mini-Pati period.
Hidaka entered her final Sakura Gakuin school year in May 2018.
At the May 6 Transfer Ceremony at Nakano ZERO, Yuzumi Shintani was appointed Student Council President.
Maaya Asou became Talk Chairperson.
Kano Fujihira became Performance Chairperson.
Soyoka Yoshida became Education Chairperson.
Marin Hidaka received a newly created title: Hamidase!! Chairperson.
She was the first person to hold the office.
“Hamidase” carries the sense of stepping outside a boundary, standing out, pushing past a frame or refusing to remain confined by the expected shape.
Contemporary reporting recorded Hidaka saying that hearing the title made her feel reassured that it was acceptable to stand out through her individuality.
Because the office had no earlier holder to imitate, she said she would need to decide for herself what it should become.
Her approach was to show her own personality freely and encourage the other members to do the same.
The position matched the qualities Sakura Gakuin had increasingly foregrounded in her: improvisation, unusual performance ideas, musical curiosity, and a willingness to move beyond the normal script.

Contemporary Transfer Ceremony coverage, interviews and the official historical record identify Hidaka's actual 2018 office as: 初代はみだせ！委員長 First Hamidase!! Chairperson.
At Sakura Gakuin Festival 2018, Hidaka won the Sakurademy Actress Award for a second time.
She had now won in 2016 and 2018, with the close 2017 contest and improvised encore intervention between them.
This sequence is important to her later acting biography.
It shows that acting was not a completely new direction invented only after graduation; Sakura Gakuin had already repeatedly given her a public format for improvisation and character work.
For the final Uta no Kōkogaku class in March 2019, Hidaka chose “Defying Gravity” from Wicked.
The song connected with her earlier Wizard of Oz-related selection while also fitting her final-year theme of pushing beyond boundaries.
It demanded sustained musical-theatre singing and gave her a graduation-period showcase aligned with her stated ambition to become a musical actress.

“clover” belongs to the three-member 2018 graduating class.
It is not a Marin solo recording.
At the final graduation concert, a special sleepiece medley was performed by Maaya Asou, Marin Hidaka and Kano Fujihira.
This was a graduation-event revival lineup.
Hidaka had not been a regular member of sleepiece during her Sakura Gakuin career, so the performance should not be converted into a permanent club credit.
Likewise, she was not a member of the Art Performance Unit trico dolls.
The official 2018 album identifies trico dolls separately, while “clover” is credited to the three graduating junior-high students.
On March 30, 2019, Hidaka graduated at The Road to Graduation 2018 Final ~Sakura Gakuin 2018 Nendo Graduation~ at Kanagawa Kenmin Hall.
The graduating members were: Yuzumi Shintani, Maaya Asou, and Marin Hidaka.
The concert and ceremony brought Hidaka's membership to an end after four school years.
She had entered in May 2015 and graduated in March 2019, a span of 1,425 calendar days when counted inclusively.
Her final stated career goal was to become a musical actress able to sing, dance and act.

Farewell Song — Japanese title Sayonara Kuchibiru — opened on May 31, 2019.
Directed by Akihiko Shiota, the music drama starred Nana Komatsu, Mugi Kadowaki and Ryo Narita.
Hidaka and Yuzumi Shintani appeared as junior-high-school fans of the fictional musical duo HaruLeo.
Hidaka's character was named Maki.
The role covered only a small number of scenes, but its effect on her career was disproportionate to its screen time.
Hidaka later explained that a crying scene included an unplanned improvisation.
Shiota responded positively to the spontaneous choice.

In 2020, Hidaka joined the Japanese-premiere company of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman's Whistle Down the Wind ~Kegarenaki Hitomi~.
The production was scheduled for March 7–29 at Nissay Theatre followed by a national tour.
The COVID-19 outbreak severely disrupted the engagement.
Early Tokyo performances were cancelled, a limited middle portion of the Tokyo run was able to proceed, later Tokyo dates were cancelled, and the full regional tour was ultimately abandoned.
The credit therefore belongs in her stage history, but it should not be described as an uninterrupted national run.
During the same pandemic year, Hidaka appeared in the short film Under Our Masks.
The film was directed by Keiko Tsuruoka and released online in November 2020.
It followed young people navigating adolescence and connection in the “with-corona” environment.
Other former Sakura Gakuin performers in the project included Sara Kurashima.
Hidaka described her character as someone unable to assert herself or say what she wanted.
In 2021, the acting relationship formed through Farewell Song led to a much larger film opportunity.
Akihiko Shiota wrote an original screenplay with Yuzumi Shintani and Marin Hidaka in mind.
The result was: The World of You Japanese title: 麻希のいる世界 Maki no Iru Sekai.
The film received its world premiere at Tokyo Filmex in November 2021 and opened theatrically in Japan on January 29, 2022.
Shintani and Hidaka were double leads.
Shintani played Aono Yuki, a high-school student with a serious chronic illness and little hope for the future.
Hidaka played Makino Maki, a volatile and charismatic classmate whose singing voice transforms Yuki's world.
The two characters form a band with Yusuke, played by Airu Kubozuka.
Music was not decoration around Hidaka's role.
It was part of the character's dramatic force.
Hidaka sang and played guitar on camera.
The film's songs were supplied by Shutoku Mukai, known for NUMBER GIRL and ZAZEN BOYS.
Hidaka visited Mukai's Matsuri Studio and received direct advice on guitar and singing.
Director Shiota later explained that Hidaka's natural voice was clear and expansive, while the role required her to roughen the sound and sing with more distortion for “Haisui-kan.”
The performance therefore asked her to use musical technique in service of an unstable fictional personality, rather than simply display polished vocal ability.
The World of You Original Soundtrack was released digitally on March 18, 2022.
Recordings featuring Hidaka as Makino Maki included: “Zāzā Ame,” “Haisui-kan Major Drop D,” “Haisui-kan Major,” and “Haisui-kan Minor.”
The soundtrack preserved her first substantial post-Sakura music performances, but the recordings were character-linked film songs rather than the beginning of her independent original solo discography.
In April 2022, Hidaka entered another music-and-story project: SCREAM!!
SCREAM!! paired her with Akiramen, a rapper who was also working as a high-school English teacher.
The project emerged from Ima Koso SCREAM!!, an original story in the metanote series.
Hidaka and Akiramen served as the real-world models and twin vocalists for the story's characters Marin and Aki.
The first digital single, “Bokura no Tame ni,” was released on April 6, 2022.
The song presented the desire to find a way out of the isolation and frustration of the prolonged pandemic period.
The second single, “Eureka,” followed on April 13.
It was tied to the conclusion of the first sixteen-episode story season.
Season two brought a third digital single, “Kimi no Kisetsu,” on December 21, 2022.
SCREAM!! should be described as a project unit connected to a narrative series.
No reliable current source establishes it as Hidaka's ongoing principal group in 2026.
Her television work in 2022 included the TV Asahi drama Moshimo, Ikemen Dake no Kōkō ga Attara.
The series ran from January 15 through March 19, 2022.
Hidaka played Fuka Shinohara.
On June 25, she appeared in the six-part immersive audio drama Koi wa Fujoshi no Ōse no Mama ni as Akari Kujo, an energetic manga-loving student who draws two male classmates into modeling for a boys' love manga.
Hidaka returned to Broadway musical theatre in Bye Bye Birdie.
The Japanese production opened at KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre in October 2022 and continued in Osaka in November.
She played Kim MacAfee, the teenage fan whose selection to receive a televised farewell kiss from rock-and-roll star Conrad Birdie throws her family and relationship into comic disorder.
Unlike her ensemble assignment in Whistle Down the Wind, Kim was a clearly identified featured character combining acting, dance and musical-theatre singing.
The production completed its scheduled run in November 2022.
Hidaka continued to maintain public ties with Sakura Gakuin graduates.
On January 30, 2022, she participated in a public recording connected with Shintani Yuzumi no Hitorigoto.
On June 23, 2023, Amuse+ released Yuzumi to Marin no ○○ Shitai #1 — Ichigo-gari ga Shitai, a web program reuniting Hidaka and Shintani for a strawberry-picking outing.
These appearances matter as genuine graduate connections, but they were not a revival of Sakura Gakuin as an active group.
In 2024, Hidaka's acting work crossed film-style web drama, advertising and musical theatre.
She appeared in the August edition of the short web-drama series Tokyo Kanojo.
The story was titled Idol ni Naru! Hen “Tokyo Masquerade.”
Hidaka played Alice Koizumi.
She also appeared in a Pokémon Sleep concept video for the “Good-Night Ribbon” feature during the application's first-anniversary period.
This was advertising and branded screen work, not a television-drama role.
From October 5 through October 13, 2024, Hidaka played Esperanza in the Japanese premiere of the musical Moyuru Kurayami Nite at Sunshine Theatre.
The musical adaptation was based on Antonio Buero Vallejo's Spanish play En la ardiente oscuridad, set in a school for blind students and centered on conflicting ideas of happiness, hope and truth.
Hidaka described the score and story as technically and emotionally demanding.
At twenty years old, she was the youngest performer in the company.
The role continued the musical-actress path she had named at Sakura Gakuin graduation while also arriving after several years of screen work.
On October 18, 2024, Hidaka released a digital cover of Happy End's “12-gatsu no Ame no Hi.”
The recording was part of P-VINE's Mágico project, which used young actresses as vocal performers to capture a particular seasonal image.
Hidaka represented the winter chapter.
Her December birth date helped shape the song selection.
Seiichi Yamamoto produced the performance, with Yamamoto and senoo ricky constructing an arrangement deliberately faithful to Happy End's original recording.

January 2025 brought two feature films in consecutive weeks.
Miharu ni Kasa wo opened on January 24.
The family drama was the feature-directing debut of Yu Shibuya and was set largely in Hokkaido.
Hidaka played Miharu Yoshida, an autistic young woman with auditory hypersensitivity who translates the sounds around her into personal onomatopoeia.
The story follows a family confronting grief after the death of Miharu's father and her wish to step beyond an overprotected environment.
Shibuya emphasized that he did not want Miharu presented only as a pitiable disabled character.
He gave her the creative ability to turn sound into language, making her central to the film's theme of expressing what is difficult to say.
Hidaka prepared for the role by considering Miharu's sensory world and the meaning of independence rather than treating a diagnosis as a collection of external mannerisms.
Isho, Kokai. opened nationwide on January 31, 2025.
Directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa and adapted from Yō Tōtarō's manga, the school mystery begins when every member of a class receives a ranking and the top-ranked student later dies, leaving individual letters to her classmates.
Hidaka played Shiho Aihata, ranked seventeenth in the class.
The official character description identifies Aihata as a manga fan and part of a three-person friendship group with Himari Tōgeya and Suzuko Sawatari.
The role placed Hidaka within a large young ensemble in a wide national commercial release, contrasting with her central dramatic role in Miharu ni Kasa wo.
The beginning of April 2025 marked a decisive professional transition.
Hidaka left Amuse on March 31 after approximately eleven years in the company's environment.
She announced the departure publicly on April 1.
Her message thanked the fans, staff and collaborators who had supported her since childhood and said that the company had given her many valuable experiences.
The departure was not a retirement announcement.
Hidaka said that she intended to continue sharing the music she loved and the forms of expression available to her.
She chose to work independently.
In a later interview, she explained that she had never pictured herself fitting permanently inside only one kind of expression.
She wanted the freedom to try music, acting, art, video and other creative work according to her curiosity.

During the same period, “12-gatsu no Ame no Hi” expanded from a record into a film project.
Director Sawa Kawakami developed a short film inspired by the Happy End song and Hidaka's 2025 cover version.
The film also used the title 12-gatsu no Ame no Hi.
Hidaka starred as Marin and supplied the in-film song.
The story follows a girl searching for the place where she was born and attempting to recover paintings during an unusual internal-world road journey.
A crowdfunding campaign organized through SPOTTED PRODUCTIONS sought 900,000 yen.
By its May 30, 2025 close, the campaign had raised 1,136,000 yen from 58 supporters, exceeding the target.
At that stage, the project was a film in production rather than a completed theatrical release.
Hidaka documented part of the filming process through her official YouTube channel.
On August 8, 2025, she released her first original solo single: “Round and Round.”
Hidaka wrote the lyrics in English and designed the artwork.
Hirotaka Mori composed, arranged and produced the song.
Hidaka said that when she heard the backing track, she immediately felt that it should be her opening statement.
The song was created during a period containing several separations, both positive and painful.
Its lyric process addressed her difficulty letting go of attachment and her effort to accept that part of herself without self-rejection.
She chose English because it allowed the message to feel direct, bright and rhythmically natural.
