Yunano Notsu was born on December 14, 1999, in Tokyo, Japan.
Her public career began through the Ciao Girl system associated with Shogakukan's girls' magazine Ciao.
In 2009, she entered the Ciao Girl 2009 Audition and received a Semi-Grand Prix.
Hana Taguchi, who would later graduate from Sakura Gakuin in the same class, also received a Semi-Grand Prix in that audition.
The audition brought Yunano into Amuse's child-talent environment.
This origin is important because her first professional identity was not principally that of a singer.
Before Sakura Gakuin, her credits were concentrated in: child modeling, television acting, voice dubbing, promotional appearances, and music-video work.
In the Japanese-language version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, released in Japan in February 2011, she supplied the voice of Gael.
From April to June 2011, she appeared regularly in TV Asahi's Hagane no Onna Season 2 as Rina Matsutani.
On November 25, 2011, she appeared in an episode of the TV Asahi drama 11nin mo Iru! as Kumiko.
She also appeared in Yuzu's music video for “Shō” and in the February 2012 Kids Station program Ciao Ciao TV! winter special 2012.
These credits show that Yunano arrived at Sakura Gakuin with experience in front of cameras and microphones, but with a background different from members whose strongest preparation was already in singing or dance.
Sakura Gakuin On May 6, 2012, Yunano transferred into Sakura Gakuin together with Saki Ooga and Mariri Sugimoto.
Sakura Gakuin was organized around a fictional-school concept and described itself as a “growth-period limited” group.
Members could remain only until the end of junior high school.
Each school year therefore combined concerts and music releases with: transfer ceremonies, student-council appointments, club units, open classes, school festivals, diary entries, and an annual graduation ceremony.
Yunano's time in the group lasted from May 2012 until March 2015.
Her three school years covered a period of substantial change.
She entered while Suzuka Nakamoto was president, watched the group pass through Marina Horiuchi's 2013 presidency and became one of the four senior graduates under Moa Kikuchi in 2014.
Her development was particularly visible in speaking and character work.
Sakura Gakuin's format did not treat stage talk as an incidental pause between songs.
Interviews, public lessons, skits, audience interaction and improvised reactions were integral parts of the group's identity.
Yunano's comedic timing, expressive reactions and willingness to play with an onstage situation eventually became as important to her Sakura Gakuin image as her singing and dancing.
Tennis Club Pastel Wind Yunano's first major club identity was the Tennis Club Pastel Wind.
The documented 2013 lineup was: Nene Sugisaki, Yunano Notsu, Saki Ooga, and Hana Taguchi.
Marina Horiuchi was also a historical member of the club.
Pastel Wind's official repertoire consisted of: “Scoreboard ni Love ga Aru” and “Yosō Ijō no Smash.”
The unit translated tennis imagery into energetic idol pop and sports-themed choreography.
For Yunano, Pastel Wind provided a clear club identity soon after she entered Sakura Gakuin and paired her with members from several different school years.
HGS / Harajuku Girls School In April 2014, Yunano took part in a project outside the normal Sakura Gakuin club structure.
Takara Tomy's Licca-chan line launched a fictional idol trio called HGS, short for Harajuku Girls School.
The fictional members were: LICCA, TUBASA, and MISAKI.
Their real-world singing and performance counterparts were: Marina Horiuchi for LICCA, Hana Taguchi for TUBASA, and Yunano Notsu for MISAKI.
Yunano therefore performed the vocal part associated with MISAKI and appeared in live promotional performances wearing clothing coordinated with the character design.
HGS debuted digitally with “Mignon☆Papillon” on April 16, 2014.
The song was composed by Professor Sakamoto and choreographed by MIKIKO, both closely connected with the broader Sakura Gakuin creative world.
The three performers presented the song at a Licca-chan event on April 29 and later appeared at the Tokyo Toy Show.
The second HGS single, “ONE CHECK SWEETNESS,” followed in July 2014.
HGS was a short promotional project, but it combined several strands of Yunano's experience: character performance, voice and vocal work, fashion presentation, dance, and her continuing association with fellow Sakura Gakuin members.
2014 school year — Talk Chairperson At Sakura Gakuin's transfer ceremony on May 5, 2014, the senior members received the following student-council positions: Moa Kikuchi — Student Council President, Yui Mizuno — Produce Chairperson, Hana Taguchi — Spirit Chairperson, and Yunano Notsu — Talk Chairperson.
The title recognized the communicative side of Yunano's growth.
It did not mean that she alone conducted every interview or stage segment.
Rather, it gave her a formal responsibility to help strengthen the group's speaking, presentation and entertainment skills.
Her role was particularly well suited to the 2014 group because its youngest members needed senior guidance in public conversation as well as performance.
A BARKS video interview pairing Student Council President Moa Kikuchi with Talk Chairperson Yunano preserved the two senior members discussing the new lineup and the individual qualities they hoped to develop.
The position also connected directly with Yunano's own changing ambitions.
By the end of the school year, she described having become more interested in talk-based work because the responsibility had taught her to enjoy speaking in public.
Purchasing Club The most distinctive club unit of Yunano's final year was the Purchasing Club.
She formed its original lineup with Saki Shirai.
The pair performed “Piece de Check!” and handled humorous onstage merchandise introductions, often using megaphones and sales-pitch language.
The concept made commerce itself into a performance.
Instead of relying primarily on conventional choreography, it demanded: comic rhythm, verbal confidence, improvisation, and chemistry between the two members.
This made the Purchasing Club an especially natural vehicle for the Talk Chairperson.
Later Sakura Gakuin lineups continued the club after Yunano graduated, but Yunano and Saki Shirai established its original character during the 2014 school year.
Twinklestars revival Yunano also joined the 2014 revival of the Baton Club Twinklestars.
That lineup included: Yunano Notsu, Yui Mizuno, Moa Kikuchi, Aiko Yamaide, and Sara Kurashima.
Twinklestars' historical repertoire included: “Dear Mr. Socrates,” “Please! Please! Please!,” “Rapikamu,” and “Tenshi to Akuma.”
The unit required the members to coordinate baton handling with singing and choreography.
For Yunano, joining it in her final year demonstrated that her Sakura Gakuin story was not limited to verbal and comic strengths.
She continued to take part in technically structured group performance while also developing her identity as a speaker.
Final Sakura Gakuin year and graduation During the 2014 school year, Yunano balanced: main-group activity, Talk Chairperson duties, the Purchasing Club, the Twinklestars revival, and HGS-related work.
The final album of her membership, Sakura Gakuin 2014 Nendo ~Kimi ni Todoke~, was released on March 25, 2015.
Her graduating class consisted of: Moa Kikuchi, Yui Mizuno, Hana Taguchi, and Yunano Notsu.
They graduated at NHK Hall on March 29, 2015.
Contemporary reports placed the audience at approximately 3,500.
Sakura Gakuin's graduation system gave the moment a particular finality.
Graduation was not a hiatus from the group and did not leave membership open-ended.
It formally concluded Yunano's participation and required her to decide what kind of performer she might become outside the school framework.
In graduation interviews, she spoke about acting and modeling as major goals.
She named actors such as Eri Fukatsu and Masato Sakai as examples of performers capable of playing a wide range of roles.
She also connected her interest in comedy with the films and television programs she had watched with her parents.

Professional name change On May 25, 2015, Yunano changed her professional name from: 野津友那乃 — Notsu Yunano
to: 本条友奈埜 — Honjō Yunano.
The given name remained pronounced Yunano, but its final kanji changed from 乃 to 埜.
The surname changed from Notsu to Honjō.
Plain Latin-script sources may render the later surname as: Honjo, Honjou, or Honjyo.
Honjō is the clearest Hepburn-style representation of 本条.
Some biographies and fan discussions call Honjō her “real name.”
The surviving public record does not justify that conclusion.
The official and entertainment-media language describes a renaming after graduation.

The video presents different human relationships through the image of tying a bow.
Yunano's participation placed her within an ensemble visual narrative rather than in a conventional idol-performance video.
On October 8, 2016, she appeared in “Synchronicity,” a segment of Fuji TV's Yonimo Kimyō na Monogatari '16 Autumn Special, known internationally as Tales of the Unusual.
She was also featured in the publication Furisode Bijin 2017, released in October 2016.

Retirement in 2017 On February 3, 2017, Yunano announced through her Instagram account that she was drawing a line under her entertainment activities.
