Aiko Yamaide was born on December 1, 2002, in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.
Kagoshima remained central to her public identity even after her work increasingly required travel to Tokyo. It was the setting of her first entertainment activity, the subject of regional media coverage and eventually the home station of her regular radio program.
Music entered her childhood before the entertainment business did.
Aiko began learning piano at the age of four.
The instrument later became more than a profile hobby. It developed into the basis of her individual performance identity, first through accompaniment and songwriting while she was still in Sakura Gakuin and then through the piano-led concerts of her solo period.
Her childhood interests also included dance, watching films and DVDs and observing people. Those interests aligned with the two different performance environments she would later inhabit: the synchronized ensemble system of Sakura Gakuin and the more personally authored world of a singer-songwriter.
First public career — the Kagoshima CM Star Project Aiko's earliest documented public breakthrough came in Kagoshima rather than through a national idol audition.
On September 25, 2011, she took part in the first Kagoshima CM Star Project on the KTS television program Gekkin! Kagoshima.
She was selected to portray “Ameri-chan,” a regional commercial character for American Home Direct.
This work established a public identity before her Amuse career. It involved regional advertising and event appearances and gave her experience performing a named character rather than appearing only as an anonymous child model.
The Ameri-chan period also produced Aiko's first commercially issued recording.
On May 25, 2012, “Ame Hare Chuchu” was released in Kagoshima under the name Ameri with Tamari.
The song was created as a charity single in support of recovery following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Singer-songwriter Midori Karashima wrote and composed it.
Aiko's participation should be classified as an early character-and-collaboration recording, not as the beginning of the later Aiko Yamaide solo discography. The artist credit, production setting and charitable purpose belong to a distinct pre-Sakura Gakuin phase.
She also appeared at the finale of the Minna no MAEMUKI Ekiden on November 30, 2012, extending the character's activity beyond television advertising.
Aiko formally completed her period as Ameri-chan during KTS no Hi 2013 on September 22, 2013.
By then she had already entered Sakura Gakuin and was beginning a different form of professional training.
Discovery by Amuse The transition from regional character work to Amuse came through a scouting encounter.
On August 1, 2012, Aiko attended TOKYO TOP KIDS COLLECTION A/W 2012 with her mother.
She was approached through the event's TTKC Scout talent-discovery project.
The scouting led to her affiliation with Amuse.
This chronology is important because some later summaries compress her early career into a single audition. The documented sequence is more specific: Aiko had already won a regional commercial-character project in 2011, had released a charity recording in May 2012 and was then scouted at a Tokyo children's fashion event in August 2012.
Sakura Gakuin — transfer in the 2013 school year Aiko transferred into Sakura Gakuin on May 5, 2013, at the group's 2013 Transfer Ceremony.
She entered alongside Saki Shirai.
Aiko was a fifth-grade elementary-school student; Saki was a first-year junior-high-school student.
The transfer placed Aiko inside a twelve-member lineup whose oldest members were Marina Horiuchi, Raura Iida, Nene Sugisaki and Hinata Sato.

Aiko therefore began at the bottom of a strongly defined seniority structure.
The group's school-year concept made age and succession part of its real operating system. Sakura Gakuin members graduated when they completed junior high school, so Aiko knew from the beginning that each senior class would eventually leave and younger members would have to inherit both repertoire and responsibility.
Her five school years created an unusually broad view of that cycle. She entered beneath the original-era senior members, later watched Moa Kikuchi, Yui Mizuno, Hana Taguchi and Yunano Notsu lead the group, grew into the central middle generation and finally served as president to members who had joined years after her.
Learning the ensemble system Sakura Gakuin required a different skill set from regional commercial work.
Performances depended on group singing, precisely matched choreography, spatial awareness, camera understanding and the ability to communicate individual personality without breaking the ensemble.
Aiko's existing dance experience helped with movement, but her piano training became a more distinctive personal asset.
Over time, she became one of the members most strongly associated with live keyboard performance and musical authorship.
The group also cultivated spoken presentation through interviews, diary entries, event talk and later live web programming. Aiko's Kagoshima identity, confident speech and visible desire to lead gradually became part of her member character.
The 2013 anniversary shuffle and “Doki Doki Morning” At Sakura Gakuin's third-anniversary event in December 2013, temporary shuffle units reinterpreted songs from the group's club catalogue.
Aiko joined Hana Taguchi and Saki Ooga for a one-night performance of “Doki Doki Morning,” a song associated with Sakura Gakuin's Heavy Music Club and BABYMETAL.
Hana occupied the central vocal position, with Saki and Aiko alongside her.
This appearance was a Sakura Gakuin shuffle performance.
It did not make Aiko a BABYMETAL member, a BABYMETAL support dancer or a formal Heavy Music Club member.
The distinction matters because images and clips of anniversary shuffles often circulate without the event context.
First annual album and first graduation cycle Aiko's first annual Sakura Gakuin studio album was Sakura Gakuin 2013 Nendo ~Kizuna~, released in March 2014.
Her first school year concluded when Marina Horiuchi, Raura Iida, Nene Sugisaki and Hinata Sato graduated on March 30, 2014.
The ceremony was Aiko's first experience of losing the entire senior class from within the group.
It also moved her closer to the center of the continuing lineup. Although still an elementary-school member, she was no longer a new transfer student.
Sakura Gakuin — 2014 school year The 2014 school year brought Sara Kurashima and Megumi Okada into Sakura Gakuin.
The Student Council was: Moa Kikuchi — Student Council President Yui Mizuno — Produce Chairperson Hana Taguchi — Spirit Chairperson Yunano Notsu — Talk Chairperson
Aiko was now a sixth-grade elementary-school student.
She belonged to the continuing group that had to introduce Sara and Megumi to Sakura Gakuin's rehearsal culture while still learning from four experienced seniors.
The year was especially important for her club identity because the Baton Club Twinklestars returned with a new configuration.
Twinklestars — Baton Club The official 2014 Twinklestars lineup was: Yunano Notsu, Yui Mizuno, Aiko Yamaide, Sara Kurashima, and Moa Kikuchi.
The unit's repertoire included: “Dear Mr. Socrates,” “Please! Please! Please!,” “Rapikamu,” and “Tenshi to Akuma.”
Twinklestars combined idol choreography with baton handling.
The unit demanded that throws, catches, changes of direction and spacing remain synchronized with the song. A missed object movement could become more visually obvious than an ordinary dance error, so the club emphasized repetition, peripheral awareness and calm recovery.
Aiko's membership connected her directly with senior performers Moa, Yui and Yunano while also making her an experienced guide for new member Sara.
Twinklestars performed “Tenshi to Akuma” during the 2014 school-year graduation period.
The club did not continue as a regular unit after the March 2015 graduation of Moa, Yui and Yunano. Aiko's official Twinklestars history therefore belongs primarily to the 2014 school year.
The annual album Sakura Gakuin 2014 Nendo ~Kimi ni Todoke~ documented the full group's musical development that year.
The school year ended on March 29, 2015, when Moa Kikuchi, Yui Mizuno, Hana Taguchi and Yunano Notsu graduated.
Aiko had now completed elementary school and entered the junior-high-school half of Sakura Gakuin.
Sakura Gakuin — 2015 school year The 2015 school year significantly changed the group's internal balance.
Rinon Isono se convirtió en presidente del consejo estudiantil.
Saki Ooga became Education Chairperson, and Saki Shirai became Talk Chairperson.
Six transfer students joined: Maaya Asou, Marin Hidaka, Kano Fujihira, Soyoka Yoshida, Momoko Okazaki, and Mirena Kurosawa.
Aiko entered first-year junior high school.
The large transfer class meant that experienced continuing members had to teach a substantial portion of the group at once. Aiko's position moved from young follower to middle-generation instructor.
Third-generation Mini-Pati In August 2015, Sakura Gakuin introduced the third generation of its Cooking Club, Mini-Pati.
The lineup was: Aiko Yamaide — pink, Marin Hidaka — green, Momoko Okazaki — yellow.
Aiko's recurring food association was ice cream, making the pink costume and her “Happy Ice Cream” phrase part of the unit's presentation.
Mini-Pati's concept combined cooking imagery, bright costumes, choreographed utensil props and fast, playful pop songs.
The third generation inherited an existing catalogue rather than receiving a completely new studio single of its own.
Its live repertoire drew from established Mini-Pati songs such as: “Happy Birthday,” “Princess☆a la mode,” “Miracle♪Patiful♪Hamburger,” “Yokubari Fille,” and other medley material associated with the Cooking Club.
This distinction prevents a common discography error: Aiko performed Mini-Pati songs on stage, but the third-generation trio did not issue a new stand-alone Mini-Pati studio single under its own lineup.
The unit nevertheless became a durable part of her Sakura Gakuin identity and continued through her graduation in March 2018.
The 2015 annual album, Sakura Gakuin 2015 Nendo ~Kirameki no Shizuku~, preserved Aiko's third full year in the group.
The school year concluded with the graduation of Rinon Isono, Saki Ooga and Saki Shirai on March 27, 2016.
Their departure left Aiko among the most experienced remaining members even though she still had two school years ahead of her.
Sakura Gakuin — 2016 school year and Vice Presidency Sakura Gakuin opened the 2016 school year on May 6, 2016, at Nakano Sunplaza.
Tsugumi Aritomo, Yuzumi Shintani and Momoe Mori joined as transfer students.
The Student Council was: Sara Kurashima — Student Council President Aiko Yamaide — Vice President Mirena Kurosawa — MC Chairperson
The Vice President office recognized Aiko's seniority and placed her beside Sara in the practical leadership of a twelve-member group.
Aiko was now a second-year junior-high-school student.
She had more years of Sakura Gakuin experience than the president, because she had joined in 2013 while Sara had joined in 2014. Sara, however, was one school grade above her and therefore the graduating president.
The arrangement required cooperation rather than a simple hierarchy of experience.
Aiko's role included supporting Sara, helping younger members learn established standards and preparing herself for the possibility that she would become the oldest continuing member after the next graduation.
Shuoh Gakuen Gasshoubu From August 24 through September 4, 2016, Aiko appeared in Sakura Gakuin's stage production Shuoh Gakuen Gasshoubu (秋桜学園合唱部) at Akasaka RED/THEATER.
The production ran for thirteen performances and placed Sakura Gakuin members inside a dramatic story rather than a conventional concert framework.
Aiko played Hina Nagase.
The character was important to the background and emotional movement of lead character Aoi Kanzaki, played by Sara Kurashima.
The stage work asked the members to maintain character, dialogue timing and emotional continuity across a full theatrical production.
For Aiko, it added ensemble acting to the singing, dance, talk and piano work already present in her career.
The experience also strengthened the 2016 senior group before the final months of Sara and Mirena's membership.
Musical growth during 2016 Aiko's piano identity became increasingly visible during this period.
Rather than treating instrument performance as a novelty, she began moving toward the singer-songwriter role she wanted to pursue after Sakura Gakuin.
The annual album Sakura Gakuin 2016 Nendo ~Yakusoku~ documented the full-group repertoire.
The year ended on March 25, 2017, when Sara Kurashima and Mirena Kurosawa graduated.
Megumi Okada, Momoko Okazaki and Aiko became the senior class for 2017.
Sakura Gakuin — 2017 school year and Student Council Presidency On May 7, 2017, Sakura Gakuin held its 2017 Transfer Ceremony.
Miku Tanaka and Miki Yagi joined the group.
Aiko was appointed Sakura Gakuin's seventh Student Council President.
The Student Council was: Aiko Yamaide — Student Council President Megumi Okada — Talk Chairperson Momoko Okazaki — Ganbare!! Chairperson Maaya Asou — Education Chairperson
Aiko entered her final year with a particularly long institutional memory.
She had experienced four previous presidents: Marina Horiuchi, Moa Kikuchi, Rinon Isono and Sara Kurashima.
She had also worked under several specialized chairperson systems and had served one year as Vice President.
Her presidency therefore did not begin as a sudden symbolic promotion. It was the final stage of a gradual five-year movement through the group.
Leadership aims Aiko publicly described her goal as creating the greatest Sakura Gakuin in the group's history.
The phrase was ambitious, but her explanation was practical.
She wanted members to distinguish clearly between concentrated work and relaxed interaction, to notice when another member was troubled and to build relationships in which people could speak honestly.
The 2017 lineup faced several structural challenges.
Only two new members entered, producing a different transfer dynamic from the six-member 2015 class.
Members also had individual work outside Sakura Gakuin, so rehearsals did not always begin with all twelve present.
As president, Aiko emphasized communication, mutual support and the responsibility of experienced members to preserve standards even when the lineup was incomplete.
Her approach combined directness with attention to individual differences.
She did not expect every member to communicate or improve in exactly the same way. Her own experience—from a young transfer student, through club activity and Vice Presidency, to president—gave her multiple reference points for how confidence develops.
Beginning visible solo work while still a member Aiko's final Sakura Gakuin year was unusual because she began public singer-songwriter activity before graduation.
On July 24, 2017, she appeared at the “Happy Ice Cream” event at Shibuya 7th FLOOR.
It was her first live appearance presented around her individual musicianship.
She performed three songs while accompanying herself on grand piano, including the self-written “Taisetsu na Kimi e.”
The appearance did not represent an early graduation from Sakura Gakuin or a separate major-label debut. She remained Student Council President and continued full group activity.
Instead, it created a bridge between the educational performance system of Sakura Gakuin and the independent piano-pop career she intended to build.
She also appeared as a solo performer at TOKYO CALLING in September 2017.
These events demonstrated that her post-graduation direction was already becoming public and specific.
My Road and “Futarikotoba” Sakura Gakuin 2017 Nendo ~My Road~ was released in March 2018.
The album included “Futarikotoba,” performed by Aiko as a solo track and written and composed by her.
The title can be understood as “words between two people” or “two-person words,” and the song made her authorship part of Sakura Gakuin's official studio discography.
This is distinct from later releases under her solo career.
“Futarikotoba” is a Sakura Gakuin album track credited to Aiko within the group's final school year, not one of the physical singles issued after graduation.
The album also included “Mirai Tokei,” performed by the three graduating members Aiko Yamaide, Megumi Okada and Momoko Okazaki.
The pairing of a personal solo composition with a senior-class song gave the record two different views of her final year: individual creative identity and membership in the graduating trio.
Final Sakura Gakuin months The final months required Aiko to manage three responsibilities at once.
She had to complete the annual album and graduation program as a performer.
She had to lead the continuing members through the emotional and practical transition to the next school year.
She also had to establish a credible direction for life after the group.
Her public interviews emphasized finishing with smiles while recognizing the pressure of leaving members she had guided.
The Road to Graduation 2017 Final Aiko graduated from Sakura Gakuin on March 24, 2018, at Nakano Sunplaza.
Megumi Okada and Momoko Okazaki graduated with her.
The concert drew approximately 2,200 people and was also presented through live viewing in cinemas the following day.
Aiko had been a member from May 5, 2013, through March 24, 2018: 1,784 elapsed days, or 1,785 calendar days when both the transfer and graduation dates are included.
That span covered five Sakura Gakuin school years.
During the concert, she performed an unfinished or developing version of “Hirari Hirari.”
The song later appeared in completed studio form on her first post-graduation single, “Smile.”
The graduation performance therefore functions as another bridge between the group and solo periods, but the later recording belongs to her individual catalogue.
Aiko's departure ended the membership of the last student who had joined during the 2013 school year.
It also completed a leadership line: she had entered under Marina Horiuchi, watched successive generations inherit the institution, supported Sara Kurashima as Vice President and finally transferred responsibility to the members who would lead the 2018 school year.
The official 2017 graduation live video preserved “Futarikotoba,” the graduating-members material, the ceremony and Aiko's final Sakura Gakuin performance period.
Graduation photo book and events The 2017 graduating class photo book, Sakura Gakuin Aiko Yamaide, Megumi Okada & Momoko Okazaki March 2018 Graduation, was released on March 20, 2018.
Its photography included a location shoot on Oshima.
An in-person handover event was scheduled for March 31 with the three graduates. Megumi was unable to attend because of illness, so Aiko and Momoko represented the class at that event. A later event allowed Megumi to complete her participation.
These appearances belonged to the closing promotion of the 2017 Sakura Gakuin school year rather than the beginning of Aiko's solo music campaign.
Post-graduation solo career — 2018 Aiko did not wait long after graduation to establish an individual performance format.
Her solo work centered on voice and piano, supported by musicians when the arrangement required a fuller band sound.
This format preserved skills developed inside Sakura Gakuin while changing the source of artistic identity. Instead of fitting one role within a twelve-member annual lineup, she now had to carry the full concert narrative, speak directly to the audience and decide how originals and covers represented her.
LIVE Diary Vol.0 On July 29, 2018, she held Aiko Yamaide LIVE Diary Vol.0 0729 at Shibuya gee-ge.
It was her first headlining solo concert after Sakura Gakuin.
Takayuki Ota and Hitoshi Uechi supported the performance.
Calling the show “Vol.0” presented it as both a beginning and an experiment. The numbering left room for the concert identity to develop rather than claiming that the format was already complete.
Her sets combined original material, keyboard performance and selected covers. The intimate venue made spoken explanation and musical personality as important as choreography had been in Sakura Gakuin.
First single — “Smile” Aiko's first post-graduation physical single, “Smile,” was released on August 22, 2018.
Hitoshi Uechi of BEGIN served as producer.

Aiko wrote the lyrics to “Smile” and shared its composition with Uechi.
The song presented a fresh-start message about remaining oneself and meeting a new environment with a smile. That theme suited the months immediately after graduating from a group that had structured five years of her life.
“Hirari Hirari” was written and composed by Aiko.
Its inclusion completed the transition begun when she performed a developing version at the graduation concert.
“Yesterday Once More,” originally made famous by the Carpenters, represented the cover-song side of her live identity.
The single's production did not erase her songwriting role. Instead, it paired her early authorship with an experienced producer who could help translate piano-based compositions into studio pop arrangements.
LIVE Diary Vol.1 On August 19, 2018, Aiko held two performances of LIVE Diary Vol.1 0819 at Shibuya gee-ge.
She performed originals and covers connected with artists including Aimyon and RADWIMPS.
The show also introduced a then-unreleased song that became “Onaji Sora no Shita.”
The phrase “under the same sky” would acquire additional importance when Aiko later used the image in her 2021 farewell message to supporters.
Second single — “Choice” Aiko released her second physical single, “Choice,” on December 1, 2018, her sixteenth birthday.
Hitoshi Uechi again served as producer.

Aiko wrote and composed “Choice.”
The song asks whether a person is communicating true feelings and recognizes that moving forward involves decisions that cannot be delegated to someone else.
“Beautiful” was a cover of a song by Korean artist Crush.
The live recording of “Onaji Sora no Shita” preserved the LIVE Diary context rather than presenting the song only as a polished studio artifact.
The single's title later became part of Aiko's own language when she explained her decision to leave Amuse in 2021.
LIVE Diary Vol.2 Aiko held LIVE Diary Vol.2 1227 at Shibuya duo MUSIC EXCHANGE on December 27, 2018.
The larger venue represented a step up from gee-ge.
The set demonstrated continuity between Sakura Gakuin and her individual career without treating the two as identical. She performed “Identity,” a Sakura Gakuin song, and closed the program with “Choice.”
The show also announced the next LIVE Diary performance for May 2019.
Solo career — 2019 The 2019 calendar expanded Aiko's live scale, festival exposure and physical catalogue.
LIVE Diary Vol.3 On May 19, 2019, Aiko held two sold-out performances of LIVE Diary Vol.3 0519 at Shibuya duo MUSIC EXCHANGE.
The concerts showed that the series had developed beyond its “Vol.0” trial stage.
She performed piano-led material, covers and originals, including the first presentation of a new love song that became “Natsu no Koi no Owari.”
The performance was later used as the main live source for VIDEO DIARY vol.1.
Amuse Fes in Makuhari 2019 On June 1, 2019, Aiko appeared at Amuse Fes in Makuhari 2019.
The event placed her on a company-wide bill with established Amuse artists and exposed her music to an audience larger and more varied than the dedicated LIVE Diary crowds.
She opened the main performance with “Taisetsu na Kimi e” and “Smile.”
The selection linked the composition she had introduced while still in Sakura Gakuin with the title song of her post-graduation debut single.
Third single — “Natsu no Koi no Owari” Aiko's third physical single, “Natsu no Koi no Owari,” was released on July 17, 2019.
The title means “the end of a summer love.”

Aiko wrote and composed the title track.
The song extended her catalogue beyond motivational new-beginning material into a reflective adolescent love narrative.
“Ruriiro no Chikyuu” was a cover of the song associated with Seiko Matsuda.
Once again, the single joined a new original, a recognized cover and a live document. That repeated structure made the physical releases a record of both songwriting and stage development.
LIVE Diary Vol.4 Aiko held LIVE Diary Vol.4 0817 at Shibuya duo MUSIC EXCHANGE on August 17, 2019.
The concert continued the regular diary concept through a second summer.
Rather than presenting each show as a disconnected one-man event, the shared title encouraged audiences to follow artistic changes across volumes.
VIDEO DIARY vol.1 Aiko released her first DVD, VIDEO DIARY vol.1, on December 25, 2019.
The principal contents included six performances from the second show of LIVE Diary Vol.3 on May 19: “Futarikotoba,” “366 Nichi,” “Tabako,” “Natsu no Koi no Owari,” “Taisetsu na Kimi e,” and “Onaji Sora no Shita.”
The DVD also contained the music videos for: “Smile,” “Choice,” and “Natsu no Koi no Owari.”
Making footage and commentary by Aiko added a reflective layer to the release.
The title deliberately echoed the LIVE Diary brand, turning the DVD into a visual record of the first phase of her post-graduation development rather than a simple collection of promotional videos.
Solo career — 2020 The year 2020 began with plans for continued live activity but was reshaped by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aiko's work moved across physical releases, radio and online performance.
“Sangatsu Nante” “Sangatsu Nante” was released digitally on March 3, 2020, before the fourth physical single.
Its title means approximately “March, of all months” or “March, anyway,” with the emotional sense supplied by lyrics about the absence of a familiar person during a season of parting.
March is culturally important in Japan as the end of the school year and the season of graduation. For a former Sakura Gakuin member whose career had repeatedly been organized around March departures, the setting carried an additional resonance even though the song belonged to her solo work.
Regular radio — Aiko de Night On April 3, 2020, Aiko began her first regular radio program, Yamaide Aiko no Aiko de Night.
FM Kagoshima served as the home station, reconnecting her professional voice with her home prefecture.
The program also aired on FM Ehime, FM Kochi, FM Tokushima and FM Kagawa at separate weekend times.
Radio gave Aiko a different type of authorship from songwriting.
She had to sustain a recurring spoken relationship with listeners, introduce music, respond to messages and build a recognizable atmosphere without choreography or visual presentation.
The launch during the first months of pandemic disruption made the program particularly important as a consistent channel between Aiko and supporters.
Fourth physical single — “Pierce” “Pierce” was initially announced for April 15, 2020, and ultimately released on April 29.

Megu Tosaka wrote the lyrics to “Pierce” and composed it with Takayuki Ota.
The song used the idea of pierced ears and adolescent fascination with earrings to portray the mixture of curiosity, impatience and restrictions experienced by a student approaching adulthood.
The visual presentation focused on Aiko's ear and selected jewelry while the lyrics worked with an imaginative premise rather than simply documenting a literal event.
Aiko wrote and composed “Kimi ni Deaete Yokatta.”
She wrote its lyrics from the perspective of her dog Maru, presenting affection and gratitude through the animal's imagined voice.
The song is an important reminder that her authorship was not limited to autobiographical first-person narration. She could create a point of view and use a small domestic relationship as the basis of a song.
Online transition — LIVE Diary Vol.5 0731 The pandemic prevented the next LIVE Diary from proceeding as an ordinary in-person concert.

The show streamed through Streaming+.
She performed twelve songs and premiered “Hanamaru.”
The absence of a physical crowd changed the feedback loop of the LIVE Diary format. Aiko had to address viewers through cameras and sustain concert energy without hearing immediate audience reactions.
The show nevertheless preserved the series rather than cancelling the entire 2020 chapter.
Yui Mizuno mention during the 2020 LINE LIVE On August 1, 2020, Aiko held a LINE LIVE transmission connected with the online one-man performance.
During the stream, she said that Yui Mizuno had watched the July 31 online concert and had communicated that to her.
The original LINE LIVE archive is no longer publicly available through its former platform.
The surviving documentation is a contemporary secondary transcript or recap rather than a currently accessible official video. The claim should therefore be described with that source limitation.

Digital single — “Hanamaru” “Hanamaru” was released digitally on August 1, 2020.
The date followed the July 31 live premiere and played on August 1 as “Aiko Day,” because the numbers 8 and 1 can be used in Japanese wordplay around her name.
Megu Tosaka wrote the lyrics and composed the song with Takayuki Ota.
The arrangement continued Aiko's movement toward bright contemporary pop while her performance retained the clear, direct vocal identity developed through the LIVE Diary series.
LIVE Diary — 18th Birthday On December 1, 2020, Aiko marked her eighteenth birthday with the online event Aiko Yamaide LIVE Diary -18th Birthday-.
Artist Suzuka Harada appeared as a guest, and Sakura Gakuin homeroom teacher and writer-performer Mori Hayashi joined as a talk guest.
The event combined music with reflection on Aiko's transition into adulthood.
Mori's participation created an explicit connection to her Sakura Gakuin history, but the program remained an Aiko Yamaide solo event rather than an official Sakura Gakuin concert.
Digital single — “365 Nichi Santa Claus” “365 Nichi Santa Claus” was released digitally on December 2, 2020.
Megu Tosaka wrote the lyrics and composed the song with Takayuki Ota.
The song was used in the pair-jewelry brand THE KISS's 2020 LOVEFUL CHRISTMAS advertising campaign.
The commercial tie-in gave Aiko's final released song a use outside her own concert and fan channels.
Its theme broadened Christmas giving into everyday gratitude toward a person one values, matching the relationship-centered writing that ran through much of her catalogue.
As of August 30, 2026, “365 Nichi Santa Claus” remains her latest verified newly released song.
Health interruption and return to radio — 2021 In January 2021, Amuse announced that Aiko had tested positive for COVID-19 after experiencing fever and coughing.
Her condition was reported as stable, and she followed medical and public-health guidance while recovering.
Members of @onefive, all of whom were Sakura Gakuin members, substituted during her absence from Aiko de Night.
Aiko returned to the program beginning with the episode broadcast on February 19, 2021, and publicly thanked @onefive for covering the program.
The return is the last clearly verified resumption of a regular professional activity before her Amuse departure.
Leaving Amuse and announcing a music pause On March 31, 2021, Aiko left Amuse.
She announced the decision in a handwritten message.
Her statement said that support from many people had allowed her to look again at herself and consider what she wanted to attempt next.
She connected the decision to the title of her song “Choice,” explaining that she was making a choice in order to find the person she wanted to become.
She said that music activity would be paused “for a while” and that she wanted to try things she had not previously been able to do.
